About the „Visi išvien“ fund

A volunteer fund in Kaunas helping Ukraine hold on since the first days of the full-scale war.

Our mission

The volunteers who now make up the Visi Išvien fund have been helping Ukraine since February 2022 — since the first days of the full-scale war. The charity and support fund was officially registered on 22 July 2024, so that the help would be more consistent and reach more people. Every day in the basement of Kaunas' Christ's Resurrection Basilica we make trench candles, weave camouflage nets and prepare humanitarian aid, and we send the vehicles we source to Ukraine's defenders.

A candle in a trench means a few hours of warmth where there's no light or electricity. A net is eight hours of handwork under which equipment can't be seen from the air. And a vehicle is often the only transport a unit has to reach safety.

All the fund's volunteers work unpaid — donations buy paraffin, fuel, vehicles and whatever the soldiers themselves ask for. What we buy and where we take it, we show in our news and Facebook posts.

What the fund lives by

Four main lines of work — from candles to vehicles for the front.

Humanitarian aid

In the basilica basement we collect medicine, bandages, long-life food, generators and warm clothing — based on real requests from the front and from civilians.

Trench candles

The blanks — washed tins with a cardboard wick — are prepared in the basement daily; the tins are brought by people. The paraffin is poured at a separate location announced in advance: 1 kg of paraffin (about €1) makes 4 candles — the small one burns 3–4 hours in a trench, the bigger one 8–10.

Camouflage nets

One net takes 6–8 volunteers eight hours of weaving together — greenish-brown for the warm season, white or grey for winter. Under such a net, equipment and people stay unseen from the air.

Vehicles for the front

We find, fix up and hand over vehicles directly to soldiers — often at their own request, for a specific unit or person. Vehicles don't last long at the front, so they are needed constantly.

Thank you to the parish of the Kaunas Basilica of the Resurrection of Christ

From the very first days of the war, the parish of Kaunas' Christ's Resurrection Basilica opened its basement to us — no rent, no conditions. Volunteers gather there every working day — preparing candle tins, weaving nets, sorting donated goods before their journey to Ukraine.

We are sincerely grateful to the parish for their trust and for the place where this work happens every day.

Volunteering in the Basilica basement

Daily volunteer work takes place in the basement of the Basilica. Anyone can join – individually or with a group, a company, a school.

Trench candle production

We prepare candle blanks in the basilica basement I–V 17:00–20:00 and VI 10:00–20:00. Paraffin pouring happens at a separate location and on other days — we announce them in advance. Companies, schools and organisations are welcome to join too.

Paraffin pouring is co-funded by the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence under the project “Laisvės ugnis” (Fire of Freedom).

Camouflage net weaving

One net takes eight hours and 6–8 volunteers to weave together. You can join during the same hours in the basilica basement — everyone is welcome: groups, families, companies and individual volunteers.

For educational sessions and organised volunteering, please contact: +370 612 69766 (Tatjana) or info@visiisvien.lt

For school students we sign off their mandatory community service hours — for taking part in any of the three activities.
